a primo australia day in our great bush capitall spent drinking new zealand cider at a backyard venue with a most bodacious inflatable pool, some kids cricket set, some beer pong (which i dominated until severe insobriety), some flip cup (which I dominated throughout), and dancing to triple j’s top 100, most of which I didn’t know, except san cisco, which was reviled by my company.
I...

goingtothecasino asked: The ask link on the side of your page doesn't work properly. Making me type it out *shakes fist* Anyway, how's Canberra? Do you miss Noosa and the people there? You're studying over there right? Tell me everything you hipster god!
the drunken cycle
I am totally digging the coffee culture in our capital. I don’t know whether everyone knows it exists, and whether by chance I’ve landed smack-bang in the middle of it, but it does exist, whereas I’m pretty sure Noosa doesn’t even know that there is something better than what they serve.
I’ve flown in and am living with my best friend, who moved down here 6 years...
so im in canberra
the streets are beautiful, and the houses are mostly rundown - or look rundown and disgusting on the outside, but are actually decent on the inside. Heaps of weirdo derro suss kents, and if they’re not suss, they’re asian, and if they’re not asian then they are one of three form of public servant - the slightly overweight suit wearing, but i think i’m fairly cool, the good...

– Michael Fassbender On Shame’s NC-17 Rating (via christophernolans)
I now have just under $2000 to live with until I get a job/settle in. Woot. Fun times.
Hopefully my youth allowance claim clears, because I could do with $380 a fortnight.
P.S. Leaving tomorrow! :o
holy shit balls.
Leaving Noosa in 2 days. Tomorrow is going to be so weird, packing bags, being all… melancholic? Reflective, but at the same time, nervous, happy, sad.
Today I first felt a bid of sadness (could have been hangover from going away drinks) at the prospect of leaving all these people, and leaving my life as I’ve lived it. Creating a new person will be so difficult. I try every time I go...

I’m watching some fantastic South American movie all about gunfights, feisty temptresses and drug-running.
Is it City of God, or City of Men? Amazing Brazilian stories… I don’t recall feisty temptresses though, so maybe not… Is it Colombiana?
because nobody reads this, I can say whatever I want, so I’ll just point out that I organised my savings by serial number on the notes, and I came up with the curious result that of the 32 $50 notes, 31 were between A and L in the alphabet, by first letter. Indeed, the second letter of the serial code is for all the 32 notes, between A and M. So only 1 letter out of 64 is past M, and this is...
25 things you didn't know about Belgium
marxisforbros:
1. In 1066, Huy, Belgium became the first European city to receive a charter of rights, making it the oldest free city on the continent. 2. Brussels sprouts really do come from Belgium and have grown in the Brussels area for over 400 years. 3. Although the exact number is disputed, Belgium makes over 800 different beers. Belgians drink an average of 150 litres of beer per year per...

Urban Abstractions
citybreaths:
Vienna-based studio Olschinsky, consisting of Peter Olschinsky and Verena Weiss, works at the intersection of illustration, graphic design and photography. Taking a look at their website, you’ll find imaginative works. I was particularly intrigued by these abstract illustrations filed under the series “Cities”, “Cities II”, “Cities III” and “Legendary Cities”. While I was looking...
I have $1,600 savings.
I held it in my hand, just a minute ago. Hard earned savings, some 100 hours of work. I keep it in my “Principles of Political Economy” book, which I find to be highly satisfying.
But $1,600 isn’t much. I’ve done the budget, and I’ll be out of money in a months time.
Thats why I have “Pulling Tricks” and “Hustling Pool” as listed potential...

Dry cappucino, shaken, with twist.
Customer: Could I please get a dry, soy cappucino, like with all froth, so I can eat it??
Me: Err, yeah, I can do that. Did you want it shaken, or stirred?
Customer: ...
vegan options
Customer: Do you guys have any vegan options?
Me: Yeah, we sure do. There is a water station just to your right.
Customer: *chuckles eventually when they get it*
Customer: But seriously?
Me: No.
This book gives me more information about penguins than I care to have.
– In 1944 a children’s book club sent a volume about penguins to a 10-year-old girl, enclosing a card seeking her opinion.
She wrote, “This book gives me more information about penguins than I care to have.”
American diplomat Hugh Gibson called it the finest piece of literary criticism he had ever...

I yelled “Will you marry me” to a spanish woman on the other side of the subway in Madrid one night… She was so indie, reading a book, and so beautiful.. I died.
